Caroline has been a successful litigation lawyer for over 30 years and was head of the Litigation Department of A&L Goodbody for seven of them. She has a reputation for applying tough and effective strategies for her clients. Caroline has always been solution driven and had her client's interests at the core of her work. She has seen at first hand that Litigation can be a clumsy tool to resolve disputes and an expensive one. On becoming an Accredited Mediator in 2002 Caroline became a passionate believer in this process. In 2008 on retiring as a Partner, she studied for and was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Conflict and Dispute Resolution Studies in Trinity College Dublin, her old alma mater. She is convinced that, done properly, Mediation can both resolve difficulties between parties in practical terms and bring financial and emotional closure to the issues between them.

Caroline understands the importance of maintaining relationships, both business and personal and she has mediated disputes where positive trading contracts have been saved, family businesses rescued and personal slights and grievances addressed. She has the skill and experience to identify the blockage, often not the obvious one, which has been the deterrent to solution. She successfully encourages the parties to explore imaginative alternative proposals in helping them to reach agreement.

Caroline's extensive legal experience is clearly a valuable tool in her work as a Mediator but it is her professional, firm and empathetic approach which marks her work in this field.
